Another Great Philadelphia Wedding Venue
The Philadelphia Waterworks...what a gorgeous venue for outdoor ceremony and delicious meal at the restaurant. I can just see you and your wedding party making the climb to the gazebo overlooking the river. A Philadelphia tradition for almost 200 years!

First Wedding Dance..Romance, Passion and the Tango
Do you love to dance? Does your fiancé think that dancing is too much work? Whether you both love to club all night or you'd rather watch dancing shows on TV from your comfortable couch, your first wedding dance is a "must". So... what to do? Many couples prepare for this uncomfortable moment by taking dance lessons before the wedding date. Great idea... and Philadelphia, NYC and North Jersey all have studios that offer Wedding Dance lessons.
Why not try the tango; make a real statement and have fun! I like the dancers from https://www.facebook.com/DancePhiladelphia.ArgentineTango
Sign up for a weekend tango boot camp, and you'll be ready for your first dance and memorable photographs!

Philly Magic Gardens
Another unique Philadelphia venue for your engagement party, wedding, anniversary or any other event that warrants a colorful, festive showcase for great photographs is Philly Magic Gardens. Stairways, walls, mirrors, narrow walkways become fantastic backdrops for your happiness. Begun in the 1960's on South Street to beautify the local neighborhood, the garden, the artistic mosaic work of Isaiah Zagar , is an international destination. You have to see the garden to believe it...and love it!

The States Drive/Belmont Avenue section of Fairmount Park offers one great wedding venue after the next! After volunteering today as a Bicentennial Garden Tender, I ate a great breakfast (for lunch) at the Centennial Cafe at the Ohio House, an original state building from the 1876 Centennial Exhibition. The cafe is open from 9 AM-3 PM. Afternoons and evenings, it's open for events from bridal showers to engagement parties to Bar/Bat Mitzvot to weddings.
Besides being lovely and so close to the Botanic Gardens for great photos, all the catering is done by Main Line's renowned Bryce's Catering. Host up to 200 guests in the stunning outdoor tent! Definitely unique, romantic and historic!

Another great wedding venue at Fairmont Park in Philadelphia is the Horticulture Center, beautiful indoors and out. Gorgeous flowers, plants, trees any time of year so your wedding, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, engagement party, graduation on special anniversary celebration will reflect the beauty of the seasons. A European style pool and arboretum will make for beautiful photography. And the food is catered by Philadelphia's well known Stephen Starr. Dance on the indoor dance floor or outside under the stars--the choice is yours! Use your imagination for the event of a lifetime with great photographs.

Shofuso Japanese House and Garden...
Such gorgeous weather from Spring through Fall, and so many beautiful venues in the greater Philadelphia area to hold your unique wedding ceremony and/or reception. I'll be featuring some of these venues in upcoming posts. First is the Shofuso Japanese House and Garden. It opened on May 1st for visiting weekdays, and I spoke with the lovely event manager. "Guests will sit or stand on the deck of the house, while the bridal couple will most often face them with their backs to the water". The setting is lovely and the reception can be held with full catering at an historical building from the 1876 Centennial that is within walking distance. Imagine the natural beauty of a procession from your ceremony to the reception with your best friends and family.

Kissing by the High Line and more...
Photo shoot this weekend for an album cover, worked on final details of client's web site and walked on NYC High Line n went to Rubin Museum. I love portrait shoots in natural settings --Teaneck Creek Conservancy--not the place you'd expect a woman to be singing while I shot and directed. her turquoise dress and scarf just perfect against the green of trees. On the High Line, I concentrated on the graffiti and wall murals. The wall with the take off of Eisenstadt's kiss in Times Square (see below) would make a great spot for an engagement or bridal shoot!!

Photography Greats|Haverford College|PA
Small but great photo exhibit in my neighborhood at Haverford College in college library. From the College's large photo collection, you can see prints from the works of many greats, including Atget, Steiglitz, Arbus, Weston, Lange (migrant worker below) and more. I never tire of seeing the old but great photographs.

Wearable Art| Your Wedding|Destination Wedding

Think about doing something unique and different for yourself to set off your dreams of a dress--choose a piece of wearable art as part of your ensemble whether your wedding is taking place in a country inn, your local church or on the beach.
Wearable art pieces come in all shapes and sizes, and may include glass, precious metals, fabric, flowers, a love poem from your husband on handmade paper-the creativity of artists is astounding!
Your wearable art should enhance your appearance and not overwhelm-- a necklace will make a great focal point for your wedding portrait and close ups of you and your husband. Your attendants can wear companion pieces--the sky's the limit.
How can you find out more? Search the web for wearable art and sign up for blogs. A great one is: www.wearableartblog.com written by art, design and jewelry enthusiast Sandi Atlas-Gordon.
Have a beautiful wedding day!
Nancy
